Halle Berry on being age-shamed for Crime 101: Women aren’t done at 50, 60 or 70
Halle Berry talks about age-shaming in the entertainment industry and urges women to reclaim their power after fifty. She highlighted the need for change in society’s attitude towards aging women.

Actress Halle Berry reacts to her character crime 101 Feeling embarrassed about age. She talked about the pressures women face in the entertainment industry as they age. She also stressed that women need to reiterate the statement that “they are not done at 50, 60, or 70.”
Berry, in an interview with DiversityArgued that women should not be treated as if their careers end after 50. The actor said, “I know the heart of it and how marginalized women feel when they get around those statistics. So, I think I feel for every woman out there.”
She said, “It’s a message to anyone who has the ears and the heart to absorb it. You know, it’s wrong. As women, we have to repeat that narrative that we’re not done at 50, 60 or 70. We have so much more to offer. I turned 60 this year and I feel like I’m just starting my second one. So, didn’t do that.”
On the personal front, Berry confirmed that she was engaged to musician Van Hunt, fueling rumors that she had rejected his proposal.
The actor will next be seen in an adrenaline-charged heist drama crime 101Directed by Bart Layton. The film, which also stars Chris Hemsworth, is based on Don Winslow’s acclaimed novel of the same name.
Set against the sun-soaked backdrop of Los Angeles, ‘Crime 101’ stars Hemsworth as a master thief who is notorious for meticulously planned robberies on the 101 Freeway. On the verge of his biggest and supposedly last job, his path crosses that of Berry’s character, an insurance broker caught in his own moral and personal dilemmas. Their uneasy partnership gives rise to both tension and intrigue, as a tireless detective, played by Mark Ruffalo, begins to close in.
Crime 101 also stars Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbero, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte. The film is set for theatrical release on February 13, 2026.
