Gulshan Grover supports stars in the ongoing debate on artistes’ expenses; says producers are aware of all expenses

Bollywood’s bad man Gulshan Grover is known for playing memorable negative roles in many films. The strong actor made his acting debut in 1980 with Hum Paanch and continues to have a strong presence in the film industry even after a career spanning over 4 decades.

Gulshan has recently opened up about the ongoing debate related to Bollywood stars and spoke in its support.

Gulshan Grover says that the producers already know about the expenses of the stars.

During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Gulshan Grover spoke about the cost of the star entourage and said that producers are unnecessarily highlighting it as an issue. The actor said that producers are aware of all the expenses associated with a particular star and calculate them before bringing them on board.

He said, “The producers are now unnecessarily highlighting the issue. How can you compare the current scenario with the past?” He mentioned that actors need a support system around them to give their best in the filmmaking process.

When asked how producers are incurring losses even as big films are not performing as expected but stars are bearing the hefty costs, Grover said all this is part and parcel of the package.

He said that if a star comes a few hours late or wants to leave at a certain time “for whatever reason”, this is a given when the star is signed. He said that anyone who complains about this is living in the past. Gulshan Grover further explained that when a star is signed the producer knows that if they don’t come on time, they have to count “three hours of work loss” or make arrangements so that something else can be shot until they arrive.
