Gulshan Devaiah recently spoke about his upcoming film ‘Uljhan’ in an interview and revealed that it is Janhvi Kapoor’s film. The ‘Dhadak’ actress is in the lead role in the film. Gulshan also revealed that spy films are not a male-dominated genre.

In a conversation with Midday, Gulshan Devaiah spoke about his upcoming film ‘Uljhan’ and how Janhvi is the central character of the film. “This is Janhvi’s (Kapoor) film. Her face is front and centre. She is the entire orchestra. Janhvi is the lead heroine of the film. It is in the script. I don’t want to say ‘I am very confident about my role, I am not insecure’. That’s stupid. I was curious to see what I could do here,” the ‘Guns N’ Roses’ actor said.

When asked what inspired him to choose this story, Gushan said, “It’s a good story and an interesting character. ‘Uljhan’ (is) the equivalent of going to your favourite restaurant and ordering the same dish. But within the same parameters, this film offers something new. I had many moments when I said, ‘Oh, I didn’t think of that.’ Also, I don’t think I’ve ever looked this good before. It was Sudhanshu’s idea to make me sport a beard.”

Gulshan also highlighted that action is no longer a male-dominated genre. He said, “Female stars are capable of delivering strong performances and drawing audiences to theatres. Action is no longer a male-dominated genre.”

‘Uljhan’ is a spy film starring Janhvi Kapoor as the youngest Deputy High Commissioner who gets caught in a conspiracy against her. The film also stars Meiyang Chang and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles. The trailer, which released on July 16, promises to be a great mix of thrill, mystery and action.
