Google is making major changes in its play game profile. Starting from 23 September, the sports profile will get “new social features” and show other players “gaming data and milestones”.
Play games already have profiles, but they are difficult to access by other players and mostly show their achievements. The description of the update Google is not very clear on which social features it is combining, but it looks similar to steam.
On steam, your profile is easily visible to your friends, and they can see which games you have played, playing now, and there are your achievements in those games.
The update of the Google Play game will automatically roll for most global users on 23 September, with the UK and the European Union on 1 October.

To power your gaming profile related features and services, Google will collect information about the use of your game, such as which games you have played and when you have played them. We will also use this data to improve Google Play Gaming Experience. Like today, developers can get information about your profile and your activity and purchase, so that they can help provide and improve the game subject to their privacy policies. Developers can also send data to Google about your activity in their game, such as your achievements and game progress.
When we update your profile, we use your current profile visibility settings as default settings for your updated profile. For example, if your current profile is set to “visible to all”, information about your update profile will also be visible to everyone. Your profile will be automatically updated, so you do not need to take any action. Remember that you can remove your play game profile from your Google account at any time.
You can completely remove your Google account. Removing your Google account will remove all data and content in that account, such as emails, files and photos.
