Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap criticized theaters for giving limited shows to Indian films like Bandar, while Hollywood film Obsession continued to dominate the screens. He raised the question of how local cinema would progress without better exposure.

This conflict raised questions about whether there were enough screens to accommodate all the titles, whether such a release plan was wise, and what it would mean for films during the opening weekend.
