Rashmika Mandanna’s latest release, The Girlfriend, has ended its theatrical run. Rahul Raveendran’s directorial debut, The Girlfriend, grossed over Rs. 30 crores in its entire box office journey at the worldwide box office. More than 50 percent of the total earnings were generated in its home markets, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It also found some viewership in Karnataka, earning around Rs. Contributed. 4 crores. The rest of India including the Hindi heartland spent only Rs. Tally 1.50 crores.
Internationally, The Girlfriend grossed Rs. Can earn Rs. 8.50 crore in its entire run, taking the worldwide gross to Rs. 30 crores gross.
Released on 7 November, the romantic drama received positive reception among audiences and critics, with praise for Rashmika Mandanna’s performance and interesting plot. However, the favorable reception did not translate into much viewership, as the film did not perform well at the box office and flopped.
The film is now set to stream online on Netflix from December 5, 2025. The streaming giant has officially announced and confirmed the multi-language digital launch. The film will be available in Telugu as well as Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
For those unaware, The Girlfriend stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role who falls in love with her college buddy, played by Dixit Shetty. The film revolves around how their relationship becomes toxic over time and how Rashmika’s character deals with it. The supporting cast includes Anu Emmanuel, Rao Ramesh, Rohini and others.
