Gilli Aur Thunivu completed one week of its re-release at the box office yesterday. The sports action drama starring Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan continues to gain popularity, while Ajith Kumar’s film seems to have no fuel left.
Ghilli started with Rs. Earned more than Rs 55 lakh. 1.95 crore at the Indian box office in its opening weekend. Moreover, it has approximately Rs. Weekday earnings reached Rs 1 crore, taking the opening week’s earnings to Rs. It’s done. Earning Rs 2.95 crore at the box office.
Talking about its rival re-releases, Thunivu opened with Rs. Collected Rs 18 lakh. 42 lakhs in the first weekend. The action drama is priced at just Rs. Can add. 10 lakhs on weekdays from Monday to Thursday, taking the initial week’s earnings to Rs. 52 lakhs at Tamil Nadu box office.
It is worth noting that the Thalapathy Vijay film was also released outside its home region, while Thunivu was limited to its state only.
Going by the current trends, Ghilli should aim to woo the audience in the second week as well, taking its overall earnings to around Rs. 4 – 4.50 crore gross mark. Thunivu, on the other hand, soon got Rs. Expected to drop its re-release around. Only 60 lakhs. Let’s see how both the films perform in their second weekend.
