Ganesh Chaturthi Modak Tips: Here Are Tips To Make The Perfect Udakiche Modak For Ganesh Chaturthi:
1. Prepare the dry coconut
The key ingredient of Udkiche Modak is its delicious coconut-jaggery filling. For the best texture, use fresh coconut instead of pre-grated coconut. Don’t skimp on the details—grate it yourself to ensure that this smooth, melt-in-the-mouth stuffing is loved by everyone.
2. Cook coconut and jaggery properly
Mix the jaggery with grated coconut and leave it for a while. Heat ghee in a pan and cook the mixture on low flame, stirring continuously. Keep cooking till the jaggery melts completely, then turn off the flame and let it cool. After cooling, add cardamom powder to it for extra flavour.
3. Make the dough perfect
It is very important to knead the rice flour properly. Use a cup (or a little more) of water for every cup of flour. Heat the water with a tablespoon of ghee, add the flour and mix well. The dough should thicken nicely. After taking it off the heat, knead it in a large bowl until smooth and keep it aside for a while.
4. Use ghee to make modaks
Apply ghee on your hands while making modaks. This will prevent the dough from sticking and make it easier to shape. Take a small portion of the dough, roll it lightly and place the stuffing in the centre. Seal the edges together and shape the modak. Repeat this till all your modaks are ready.
5. Check if the modaks are ready or not
To ensure that your modaks are steamed properly, lightly touch one of the modaks. If the outer layer is not sticking to your fingers, they are ready to eat and ready to be served. Enjoy making these delicious recipes and have a wonderful Ganesh Chaturthi!
