Utkarsh Sharma, who rose to fame with his role in Gadar 2, is the son of filmmaker Anil Sharma. Recently, the actor recalled his days working as an assistant in his father’s directorial venture Veer, where he was mesmerized by Salman Khan. The young actor also revealed that he used to clap for the scenes where he once accidentally hit the nose of actor Salman Khan, who handled the situation gracefully.
In a new interview with The Lallantop, Utkarsh Sharma recalled that after he had completed his board exams, his father had to fly to London to meet the production schedule of Veer. But, due to a bombing accident in England, the visas of the other assistants were cancelled, and he decided to accompany his father.
He said, “I didn’t know anything, although I had seen it on the set, but I didn’t know what the work was, so on that set, I taught myself to clap so that I could learn whatever is behind the camera.” (I didn’t know how things worked on a film set. I mean, I had seen work on film sets, but I didn’t know what to do. So, I learned how to clap and do other things- Camera work.)
As he was learning to work on film sets, Sharma closely observed the work of hero Salman Khan, which became a great learning opportunity for him. However, before a scene when he was supposed to clap near the superstar, he accidentally got injured.
The actor said, “Once I touched his nose while he was clapping, but it didn’t do anything to him.” (Once, while clapping, I accidentally brought his note among him, but he was polite and did nothing.)
This incident gave the young actor a unique perspective about Khan’s personality on and off the camera. He told that the superstar, who had given many hits at the box office, had a calm nature and down-to-earth personality off the screen. However, once the camera started rolling, he transformed into a magnetic performer, and his even eyes conveyed his emotions.
The Gadar 2 actor mentioned that he was particularly impressed by the Tiger 3 actor’s ability to portray emotional depth during romantic scenes. He shared that he feels the superstars have put their true emotions into their roles, and their honesty has rubbed off on Utkarsh.
