Fresher gets TCS Ninja offer with 3.5 LPA salary, asks if IT jobs scene is so bad
A Reddit user recently asked for advice regarding his career. User received TCS Ninja offer of 3.5LPA. However, he was not happy and could not decide whether he should accept it or not.

A Reddit user recently asked for advice on the forum regarding his career in the IT industry. The user claimed to have received an offer from TCS as Ninja, apparently with a package worth Rs 3.5 LPA. However, he admitted that he was not happy with the offer, but was worried that he would not be able to find anything better elsewhere.
User u/GroundbreakingSun345 took to the subreddit r/developersIndia to share his story. “I got joining from TCS Ninja (next month) with CTC of 3.5LPA, but I am really not happy with it,” he wrote.
The user questioned whether they should accept this offer and join TCS considering the current situation of job uncertainty in many IT companies. He said, “Should I join TCS, given that IT jobs are becoming harder to get these days, or should I stay and try to achieve something with a higher package?”
The user reported that the current situation of IT jobs was critical, with uncertainty over offers that could be higher than the package received from TCS. “The job market for IT roles is looking pretty tough right now,” he added.
He sought advice from other users who may have been in a similar situation before the December 11 joining date.
The user was also concerned that starting with this salary might lead to lower offers from other companies later in his career.
However one should keep in mind that the 3.5 LPA package is ideal for TCS Ninja offers.
Redditors want newcomers to take TCS offer
Some Redditors joined the conversation. A former TCS employee shared that he started at 3.3 LPA, but is now earning 18.5 LPA after just a few years in a different firm. The user wrote, “I worked in TCS for 3.2 years (till Feb 2025). And I joined as Ninja in 3.3 package. Today I am at 18.5LPA.”
Some Redditors suggested that newcomers should accept the TCS offer but continue looking for better opportunities. One commenter claimed that the user was lucky to get an offer at a time when many people were not even getting a chance to interview for jobs. One user replied, “You can accept it, if you got an offer then you are very lucky, most of the people today are struggling to even get an interview.”
Impact of AI in IT sector
Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have transformed industries, including the IT sector. Companies like TCS, Accenture, Google and Amazon have laid off thousands of employees to prepare for a future with more AI.
This has raised concerns about the impact on the job market, especially on entry-level workers. According to NITI Aayog, AI could impact 2 million jobs in India’s IT sector.
