The Disney banner is gearing up for an exciting expansion with the announcement of the release dates of two highly anticipated sequels: Freaker Friday and the live-action Lilo & Stitch. After the spectacular presentation at the D23 Expo, the filmmakers revealed that the sequels will premiere in 2025.
While Freakier Friday is scheduled for August 8, 2025, Lilo & Stitch Live Action will be released on May 23, 2025.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are set to return for the sequel two decades after delivering the original hit comedy. The film is expected to clash with another untitled film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
In addition to Lee Curtis and Lohan, other original cast members joining the productions include Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. According to media reports, the production of the film has been completed.
The official plot description for Freakier Friday reads, “A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multi-generational twist, the film picks up years later as Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) face an identity crisis . Anna now has a daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter of her own.
It further states, “As they deal with the myriad challenges that follow the merger of two families, Tess and Anna discover that lightning can indeed strike twice.”

As far as Lilo & Stitch live action, fans will see the return of Chris Sanders as the voice of Stitch, while Lilo will be portrayed by Sydney Agusong. Additionally, the cast includes Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance and Tia Carrere are also included.
The script was written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright from an earlier version by Mike Van Wees. Rideback is produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Erich, with Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer.
Lilo & Stitch will share Memorial Day weekend with the upcoming installment of Mission: Impossible starring Tom Cruise. This is expected to be a win-win situation for Lilo & Stitch as well as the latter, as one is targeted towards a male-oriented audience, while the other is meant for a family-oriented audience.
