It’s time for the international release of Oppo’s Reno16 series, and we’ve got the Reno16 Pro for the unboxing. The global Reno16 Pro is closer to the Chinese Reno16 than the Chinese Pro, which means it is a 6.32-inch phone, not 6.78 inches.
The global Reno16 Pro is also close to its global counterpart, the Reno16. It is easier to name their differences than their similarities. The Reno16 Pro has a Dimensity 8550 Super, a 200MP main camera and 12GB of RAM as standard.
The Reno16 has a 50MP main camera, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, and 8GB or 12GB of RAM (8GB only in EU).
Both phones share the same design – Oppo calls it a 3D Pop Planet design, and in the company’s own words, it features the industry’s first HoloVerse 3D technology, with a nebula-inspired effect that changes with light and motion. Here it is in action on our TikTok.
The camera island blends well with the surface of the rear panel, it has a slope. The design is intended to combat dust accumulation on the sides of the camera island.
Both phones also share a dedicated AI Snap key on the top left edge. By default, it captures what you’re looking at and puts it into the AI mind space. But, like OnePlus phones, you can customize the button to open the camera, flashlight, mute the ringer, or open another app.
Close to indistinguishable Reno16 pair
Back to the differences. The Pro has a 144Hz maximum refresh rate, while the Reno16 has 120Hz, but you’ll only see this in supported games.
The Oppo Reno16 Pro runs smoothly. Despite the iOS-inspired look, we’ve always enjoyed ColorOS, and Oppo promises that the Reno16 Pro will remain smooth even after six years of use.
The Oppo Reno16 Pro comes in Pop White and Starlight Black and 12/256GB or 12/512GB. The Oppo Reno16 Pro is available at a discounted price of €900 (until July 31, normally €1,100). Battery Capacity – The phone may pack up to 6,700mAh, but it may also come with a lower battery capacity in specific markets.
