Foot: Launch Galaxy A56, A36 and A26, Galaxy S24 Fe gets a good Prime deal

Google unveiled Pixel 9A this week, but it would not be out until April. The mid-ranger will start at £ 500 for a unit with 128GB storage. This is a good opportunity to detect the mid-range segment and see which phones are available around the £ 500 mark-we will look slightly above and slightly below.

Also, select Store Hit Store and other markets in Samsung Galaxy A56, A36 and A26 Europe this week. The Galaxy A56 floats an Exynos 1580, with a 5,000mAh battery with AMD RDNA 3 graphics, as well as 45W fast charging – it uses Samsung for its flagship. Software Support 6 OS is at flagship level with updates.

There is no discount, but Amazon is bundling the phone with some free: a galaxy fit 3, a 45W charger (not one in the box) and a silicone case. Together, their price is £ 138.98.

Samsung Galaxy A36 comes with the same free. This is £ 100 less than the A56 and what you lose here. The chipset, Snapdragon 6 General 3, is slow and storage is UFS 2.2 instead of 3.1, which reduces further performance. In addition, the body is plastic instead of aluminum and the ultra-wide camera is knocked down to 8MP (12MP). It is good to save £ 100, but some of these downgrade are difficult.

Below the price ladder below £ 100, we find the Galaxy A26. Note that you do not get free with this one. The A26 has Exynos 1380, which was the chipset used in the last year’s A35. You also lose 45W charging for 25W battery and 50MP main cameras have a small sensor, but OIS is still available. You acquire a microSD slot, but not 3.5 mm jack.

Then, the pixel starts at 9A £ 500. Its predecessor, Pixel 8A, is currently £ 150 cheaper. The old tenser G3 does not have the best reputation, especially its modem. 6.1 “The display is also slightly smaller (versus 6.3”) and not as bright as it is. There are IP67 vs IP68, 18W Wired Charging vs 23W and so on some other minor differences. The main camera is different with a large 64MP 1/1.73 “Censor vs. 48MP 1/2.0”. Nevertheless, chipset is the main concern here.

Going up £ 150 instead of bottom, brings us to Pixel 9. Tenser G4 defeated Exynos 1580 of the Galaxy A56, even in terms of performance – not unexpected, given that the A56 price is similar to Pixel 9A. Both will receive 7 OS updates, however. The Google phone also has a better ultra-wide camera (48MP vs. 12MP), while Galaxy has rapid charging (45W vs. 23W), but it is only wired.

The Apple iPhone 16E is £ 600, which makes it the largest budget model. With 6.1 “display, it is smaller than Pixel 9A, but is the best performance available on mobile thanks to Apple A18 chipset. Unfortunately, the only 48 MP camera on the rear is a throbac for a distant past.

Nothing phone (3A) is less than £ 400, even if you get 12/256 GB models. The Snapdragon 7S General 3 is faster than the 6 General 3 within 3 Galaxy A36, but Pixel 9A is behind the Tensor G4. The IP64 rating is also the lowest of the three. However, it combines 50MP main camera with 50MP 2x (50 mm) telephoto lens and 8MP ultra-wide. Charging for a 5,000mAh battery is only wired-wired, but it is sharply faster at 50W. Nothing is committed to only 3 OS updates, which is not much, especially given that Android 16 is a few months away.
