First photo released of man who drove car into Michigan Jewish preschool

The Michigan shooter who tried to murder children in a Jewish pre-K was Ayman Ghazali, a naturalized American citizen from Lebanon, and two of his brothers believed to be Hezbollah terrorists.Ghazali drove his car laden with mortar shells into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Thursday, The New York Post reported, but authorities said security guards opened fire on him and stopped him from carrying out further carnage.A 2019 photo obtained by The Post shows Ghazali with a stoic gaze, cropped hair and a clean-shaven face. The second image, confirmed by The Post, shows him with a full beard.A local official in Mashghara told The Associated Press on Friday that the attack came after his two brothers and a niece and nephew were killed in an airstrike on their home in Lebanon. The siblings were believed to be members of Iran-backed Hezbollah, law enforcement sources told The Post.A local official told the AP that the relatives were killed just after sunset as they were breaking their fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.Ghazali, a resident of Dearborn Heights, first entered the US in 2011 and was granted citizenship by 2016, sources said.He was questioned by authorities in Atlanta after returning from a trip abroad in 2019 and was found to have traveled to Lebanon, the sources said. Sources said that when he was interrogated, he claimed that he had gone abroad for hair transplant.Sources said he also had contacts on his phone with known Hezbollah members. Sources said the FBI monitored the situation, but it was unclear what the outcome was.
