Exclusive: When Sajid Khan admitted that Fardeen is the ‘fourth Khan’ after Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman, Sanjay Gupta reveals

It took over a decade for Fardeen Khan to return to the big screen, but when he did, the actor was showered with immense love. This support helped him bag roles in several films, including Khel Khel Mein and the upcoming crime thriller Blast. To discuss further about the Koki Gulati directorial, Fardeen sat down for an interview with Pinkvilla, which also had the film’s producers in attendance. During the conversation, Sanjay Gupta shared his first impressions about Fardeen.

When Sanjay Gupta was asked about his relationship with Fardeen Khan, the Shootout at Wadala filmmaker said that his perception of Khan is more from his father, Bollywood actor, director and producer Feroz Khan than from him. To this Fardeen said, “It follows me everywhere.”

The filmmaker further added, “I worship Khan sahab. All my films are inspired by his work and everything. So, it was a very natural association.” Gupta also went back in time and revealed that Sajid Khan would often say that Fardeen is the fourth Khan who threatens to become a superstar. “Maybe he is just taking his time,” he added with a laugh.

In the same interview with us, the producer-director praised Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s direction. The Kaante producer said that the National Award-winning film took him back to Amitabh Bachchan’s 1970s. “When I saw Gangubai I was like wow. I felt like I was watching an Amitabh Bachchan film from the 70s. The dialogues and the way the scenes were constructed made it feel like that,” Sanjay said.

He further talked about the scene in which Alia’s character Gangu sits in the car with her lover Afsan. Gupta said that the way the Jigra actress sat there and performed the scene was commendable. According to him, some directors in the industry have stopped working hard and they are paying the price for it.

Talking about Fardeen Khan, he returned to the silver screen earlier this year with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. He was then seen in Khel Khel alongside Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Amy Virk, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal.
