Udaybir Sandhu, who is winning hearts with his performance as Pinda in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, recently sat down for an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla. During the conversation, the young actor talked about his off-screen chemistry with Ranveer Singh and revealed how supportive he was on the sets. He also talked about his viral dialogue in the Aditya Dhar directorial, which comes at the interval point.
Udaybir admitted that he was a little nervous initially when he met Ranveer Singh on the sets for the first time. He said, “Every person gets a little nervous, I have been watching him (Ranveer Singh) for a long time, he is such a good actor, so I thought, how will you do it…? I was a little nervous on the first day, but gradually I became comfortable.”
After this he told what advice Ranveer gave him before starting the shooting of his part. Sandhu said, “One thing he said was that your character is very good, it was his own favorite character. Ranveer Bhai had said that man you love it, it is very funny, then I thought yes, there is something emotional in it.”
Talking about the Dhurandhar star, Udaybir further called Ranveer a safe actor, “He is a very good person. He is very good at giving good feedback and he doesn’t just give feedback, he tells you to do this and that, and that thing really works. As a co-actor, he is very good, very safe. Usually, actors are not safe. That’s what a good actor is.” The biggest mark is that he is very safe with his craft, he is very confident in it. He was so invested that he would not leave the set.
Coming to the interval block in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Udaybir Sandhu revealed that a Korean team was hired to design the action sequences in that scene. He also revealed that the scene was shot over three days, of which one and a half days were dedicated only to the drama portion. Udaybir said, “Because it was such an important scene, I couldn’t sleep the first night. I was very nervous. Then the next day, I became so sleepy that I couldn’t sleep again. That’s why I couldn’t sleep the next day too. That’s why I didn’t sleep for three nights at a time.”
He concluded by saying that his eyes were swollen due to not having sleep for three nights, but the swollen skin and lack of sleep helped his character significantly.
