Pinkvilla has exclusively learned that Shah Rukh Khan has politely declined a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, and has chosen to keep his entire focus on his upcoming film King. It is said that the superstar is keen to maintain exclusivity around his on-screen presence and hence, does not want to make any big-screen appearances before the release of King.
A source told us, “The producers were keen to rope in Shah Rukh Khan for a 5-day cameo, and he was completely open to the idea. However, his current focus remains firmly on King, which holds great importance for him, especially as it marks the big screen launch of his daughter Suhana. In a respectful conversation with the team, SRK expressed his desire to do the cameo while requesting that the release of Jailer be aligned after King. Maybe because he wanted his appearance to remain special for that film, he has a special look and he does not want to have the same look in any other film before this.
Despite backing out of the offer, SRK continues to have the highest respect for Rajinikanth and has immense admiration for the great actor. In fact, he is very keen to collaborate with them at the right time in future also.
The source further added, “The makers were considering an August release before King in December, and given the different timelines, both parties mutually and amicably decided to part ways on this cameo. Shah Rukh Khan has also personally spoken to Rajinikanth and expressed his appreciation, and assured him that he would be happy to collaborate at a more appropriate time in the future, be it a cameo or a full-fledged role.”
The producers of Jailer had initially requested a five-day shoot in April. Given current commitments and schedule conflicts with King, the separation was amicable, with both parties showing mutual respect. The Jailer team is now looking to consider another top superstar for the role.
Co-written and directed by Siddharth Anand, King stars Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and many more. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in December 2026.
On the other hand, Jailer 2 starring superstar Rajinikanth, written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is fast nearing completion. Thalaivaa confirmed in April 2026 that shooting is almost complete and the film is in final post-production.
