Film director and producer Karthik Subbaraj teams up with actor Rana Daggubati to tell an emotional story depicting the consequences and impact of war on a child in Neelira.
Recently both of them joined Pinkvilla for a special conversation. During the interview, he talked about his film and the inspiration behind telling a compelling story. Since Rana has been a part of many hit films, he has seen success in real life too.
When asked what success means to him, the Baahubali: The Epic star said, “If Long Night is discussed by many audiences for many long nights, that will be success for us.” During the conversation, he was asked to say one word for the great actor Rajinikanth. Karthik Subbaraj immediately called him “Thalaivar” without wasting even a minute.
Apparently Daggubati agreed with him. However, he further added that the Coolie actor is an inspiration for many. Rana expressed in the interview, “I think he’s probably the single person who has made the biggest impact on this generation in terms of style – high or anything you aspire to. Rajinikanth is an aspiration.” (Thus)

In the same interview, Rana, son of filmmaker D. Suresh Babu, also talked about living up to the legacy of coming from a film family. The Kantha fame reveals, “If it wasn’t for this legacy I wouldn’t have been able to do all this. We have got so much knowledge over time, from different generations, that there are different ways of watching a film. For us, whatever we have created in our lives is only cinema and our job is just to give back.”
For those unaware, Neelira is a Tamil war-drama written and directed by Somitharan. It will be released on April 3, 2026.
