Exclusive: Nicholas Galitzine says ‘Masters of the Universe sequel will be shot in India’
In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Masters of the Universe stars Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes talk about the emotional core of the film, dealing with self-doubt, and why India could be the ideal location for a future sequel.

For generations of fans, He-Man has become synonymous with brute strength, bulging muscles, and a war cry that echoes throughout the history of pop culture. But Masters of the Universe looks beyond the swords and spectacle, placing equal emphasis on vulnerability, self-confidence and identity – themes that resonated deeply with stars Nicholas Galitzin and Camila Mendes as they stepped into the roles of Adam and Tila.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the duo reflected on joining the beloved franchise, living up to expectations and embracing the emotional complexity at the heart of their characters. He also promised to shoot the film’s sequel in India along with a Bollywood offer.
When he was told of their popularity in India and asked if audiences could expect to see Adam and Tila in the country someday, Galitzine responded, “Oh, I would love to.” “I would love that too,” Mendes said.
Then the actors called out in unison: “Bring us here. Invite us.” Galitzine took this idea one step further. “So, we’ll shoot the sequel in India,” he joked. When asked if that was a promise, Nicholas said, “It’s a promise,” and immediately added a condition. “Only if we get a cool Bollywood dance number.”
“Yeah, that would be a lot of fun,” Mendes agreed. Beyond India plans, both actors reflected on the leap of faith that brought them to one of pop culture’s most iconic fantasy franchises.
Addressing the reaction to his casting as He-Man, Galitzine said he largely avoids online discussion. He said, “We try to stay off the Internet. I knew how to play this guy. I read the script, I felt Adam’s heart and his weakness.” The actor credited director Travis Knight’s confidence in helping shape the character. “Travis trusted me that the body would come after months of training. I think he was looking for the spirit of Adam in an actor.”
Galitzine said it was Adam’s emotional depth that convinced him he was right for the role. He shared, “I loved the way Adam used humor to deflect attention. I loved the way he looked at people, the way he brought out the best in people. It was something I knew I could do.”
Meanwhile, Mendes revealed that she had to overcome her insecurities to play the role of Tila. “I had to keep reminding myself that I deserve to be here, that I deserve this role, that I’m capable of playing this role,” he said.
That belief, Mendes said, became his greatest source of confidence. “If he can see me fitting into this world, I can see it for myself,” Mendes said.
This film also challenges the idea of masculinity in its own way. When asked if Adam’s vulnerability matched hers, Galitzine replied, “Yes, completely.” “There is so much within all of us,” he said.
Reflecting on the dynamic between Adam and Tila, he said, “When Adam meets Tila, you can tell she has more typical masculine qualities. She’s very cool in a lot of ways.” For Galitzine, the film ultimately argues that strength cannot exist without vulnerability.
“Being so eccentric in these ways doesn’t get them anywhere, and you have to embrace all sides of yourself. You have to embrace vulnerability and sensitivity, as well as have some beautiful muscles, to save the day,” he underlined.
It remains to be seen whether the Masters of the Universe sequel will eventually come to India or not. But if Galitzine’s promise holds up, Indian fans may one day see He-Man replace Eternia on the Bollywood dance floor.
Masters of the Universe will release in India on June 5, 2026.
