Exclusive: Nag Ashwin reveals why Kalki 2898 AD’s Bhairava was always made goofy; ‘Prabhas added a few things to it’

Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan is making a lot of noise in the theatres. Now in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, director Nag Ashwin shared some details about his recent hit film and how he crafted the character of Bhairava.

During the conversation, the director revealed, “I really think Prabhas has a very interesting sense of humour and body language, which is why we don’t have to see him as a macho guy all the time, like always bending iron rods or beating up people.”

Nag Ashwin further added, “I felt he could be a warrior, he could be a great warrior, and still be real. I really like Prabhas being real, maybe it was like one of his previous films that was like that to some extent and that has always been my reference point. Once I met him and spent more time with him, I realised that I wanted to see him like that and Bhairava was always like that.”

He also shared if Bhairava is a mix of Prabhas and the character in real life as he said, “Bhairava was always written to be a bit goofy and fun-loving. Of course, Prabhas added more elements to it which made it more real.”
