Exclusive: Arjun Kapoor reveals this was the first theatrical film starring Amitabh Bachchan that he watched; ‘Now he has taken his own life…’

Arjun Kapoor comes from a film background, he is the son of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and grew up surrounded by stars. Despite this, he never ceased to be influenced by Bollywood and its stars. Recently, the actor recalled his childhood and how Amitabh Bachchan starrer Ajooba was the first dramatic film he watched.

In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the 2 States actor recalled watching movies in his childhood. He recalled that he started watching Amitabh Bachchan’s films much later in life. Yet, he clearly remembers that the first film he saw in the theater was Ajooba.

“The first theatrical film I remember very well was I went on a road and saw Ajooba, which has now taken on a life of its own as a film,” Kapoor said.

He mentioned that he clearly remembers Bachchan’s special outfit in the film and is impressed by it. He also watched films of Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar, which had an impact on him.

For those unaware, Ajooba was a superhero film released in 1990 that saw the Sholay actor playing a new role on screen. It was based on the Arabic folktale One Thousand and One Nights and was India’s most expensive film up to that time.

Directed by Shashi Kapoor and produced by a Soviet Union filmmaker, the film featured a multi-starrer cast including Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Shammi Kapoor, Saeed Jaffrey, Dara Singh and Amrish Puri.

Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor was recently seen playing the role of a villain in Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. Its cast included Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and others. Furthermore, he will next be seen in the sequel of No Entry alongside Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh.
