Arijit Singh: The Soulful Voice of a Generation has in fact announced his retirement from playback singing on social media, especially on his personal X account and Instagram. He expressed his gratitude towards his fans and said, “I am not going to do any new work as a playback singer from now on. I am calling it quits. It was a wonderful journey.”

New tune calling!!

But this is not goodbye, friends; This bodes well for a new chapter in his life: filmmaking.

He cited the desire to explore new creative horizons as the reason behind his retirement from singing. Although Arijit Singh’s decision to quit singing has come as a shock, it is not completely unexpected. A perfectionist at heart, he has always been driven by the desire to discover and create. Knowing his passion, he now wants to focus on direction and production.

His first Hindi film will star Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s daughter Shora and Arijit’s son in lead roles. The jungle adventure film is co-produced by Arijit and his wife Koel Singh, along with Mahavir Jain.

The schedule of the film is currently going on in Shantiniketan, which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a special role. Veteran actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya is also part of the cast. Arijit’s wife Koel Singh has co-written the script with him and the two are excited to bring their story to life. According to sources, the film will be shown in several film festivals before its release across India.

This is not Arijit’s first step into filmmaking. He previously directed a Bengali film, Sa (2018), which revolved around a young boy’s musical journey.

As Arijit Singh moves forward on this new path, fans and the industry alike are eager to see what he comes up with. With their passion and dedication, we will definitely see something special. The curtain may have been drawn on his singing career, but the show is not over yet.

Introducing the maestro’s next big hit – on celluloid! As we know… the picture is still pending.
