Pinkvilla has exclusively given a big update on the much-awaited 3 Idiots sequel, and now, a source has confirmed that the makers have settled on a tentative title. As we previously reported, the 3 Idiots sequel is officially in the works, with the script locked and filming set to begin in 2026 with Rajkumar Hirani directing.
An insider confirmed, “The script is currently being developed under a tentative working title, 4 Idiots. While this title is still subject to change, the producers are looking for a superstar to expand the iconic franchise beyond its original trio. The producers are actively looking for a fourth idiot, it could be a superstar name.”
“The writing process is ongoing, and the team is making sure that it gets bigger and better and continues from where it was left in the first part. Still, this is not just a simple continuation but new elements will also be introduced to justify the addition of the fourth main character,” the source added.
While the original actors Aamir Khan, R. With Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan expected to reprise their roles from the 2009 blockbuster, speculations about the “fourth idiot” will soon be raising curiosity among film buffs.
4 Idiots is only a working title and may or may not change later. Still, discussing a fourth lead, potentially a superstar, would be a bold move.
Released in 2009, 3 Idiots became a cult classic, sparking a nationwide discussion about India’s education system. The film created history as the first Indian film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark and set new standards for Bollywood. The sequel will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, with Hirani and Aamir Khan along with Vidhu Vinod Chopra backing the project.
