Prime Minister Narendra Modi has insisted on strengthening relations with China despite the previous tension, which emphasizes discord on discord and cooperation on struggle. Speaking on the Lex Fridman podcast, PM Modi talked about the “long history” of India-China relations and the importance of mutual understanding.
During his conversation with an MIT research scientist and a popular YouTube podcast hosts Fridman, PM Modi said, “Look, the relationship between India and China is nothing new. Both nations have ancient cultures and civilizations in both nations. Even in the modern world, they play an important role. They learn from each other for centuries.

PM Modi said that at one point of history, India and China are simultaneously responsible for more than half of the world’s GDP. He further stated that Buddhism, which had a major influence on China, originated in India, and played an important role in cultural exchange between the two ancient civilizations.
“If we look back for centuries, there is no real history of conflict between us. It has always been about learning from each other and understanding each other,” PM Modi said.
Addressing the long -standing border disputes, PM Modi accepted the tensions arising after the conflict with the real control (LAC) in 2020.

In November last year, Indian and Chinese troops began patrolling with a line of real control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh after a gap of over four years. Patrolling was stopped in both these areas of East Ladakh for about four and a half years after both sides collided in Pangong Lake and Galvan regions in May-June 2020.
PM Modi said, “It is true that border disputes are going on between us. And in 2020, the events with the border have created significant tension among our countries. However, after my recent meeting with President Xi, we have seen a comeback to normal position on the border,” PM Modi said.
“Now we are working to restore the situation before 2020. In the struggle,” he said.
The Prime Minister admitted that the differences are natural, especially between neighboring countries. “Even within a family, everything is not always right,” he said.
PM Modi insisted that his government focuses on ensuring that these differences do not increase in controversies. “Our focus is to ensure that these differences do not change in controversies. This is what we work actively. Instead of discord, we emphasize dialogue, because only through dialogue we can create a stable, cooperative relationship that serves the best interests of the two countries.”
Last year, a major success came late when India and China completed their disintegration process at the last two friction points in eastern Ladakh-Deepsing and Demchok.
After the agreement, PM Modi and President Xi discussed in Kazan on 23 October, where they agreed to revive various dialogues to improve the relationship. This was followed by a series of diplomatic busyness.
