Eva Mendes hints at a possible return to acting nearly a decade after Lost River; Here’s what the actress revealed

Although fans haven’t seen Eva Mendes in a movie in nearly ten years, it’s possible she’ll return to the big screen in the future. While recently discussing her first children’s book, Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries, on Good Morning America, the actress was asked if she’d ever return to Hollywood.

“I don’t know. If there are any interesting roles, maybe. I’m not sure if any role is interesting enough. I felt like I’d done everything after working with Ryan Gosling ten years ago. He’s really one of the best. Working with him was a milestone in my career, and I thought, ‘This is a great time to do something like Seinfeld and just get out there.’ So, who knows?”

Aside from her role in the children’s series Bluey, Eva Mendes, 50, hasn’t appeared in a film since 2014, when she co-starred in the Ryan Gosling-directed drama Lost River.

Mendes first met her husband Ryan Gosling on the set of the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines. Shortly thereafter, she stepped away from acting to focus on other professional pursuits and raising her two daughters, Esmeralda Amada (9) and Amada Lee (7).

More recently, Mendes has turned her attention away from acting and published a children’s picture book titled Desi, Mami and the Never-Ending Worries, which aims to address childhood anxiety.

She explained that this became clear during an appearance on the Today show in March. She explained that since acting involves being on location, she continued to work, but felt fortunate to have the opportunity to spend time with her children. It was a mutual understanding between her and Gosling; when he wasn’t at work, she would work too, but they had an unwritten agreement that she would do her work from home.

The couple has kept their relationship private for years, but continue to find small ways to support each other. One example of this is Mendes’ heartwarming Instagram post, which she shared after Ryan Gosling’s incredible I’m Just Ken performance at the Oscars earlier this year.
