Drishyam 3 director Jeethu Joseph warned fans not to expect another mind game
Director Jethu Joseph recently revealed in an interview that the ‘Dravim 3’ script has been completed. The filmmaker warned the audience against the apprehension of a complex thriller like previous installments.

Filmmaker Jethu Joseph has officially announced that the script of ‘Drisham 3’ starring Mohanlal as Georgcutti is now complete, which marks the beginning of the final chapter in the admirable crime thriller series. Filming is about to begin this month, but Jethu has advised the audience to manage his expectations and has not expected another mind-looking film.
Addressing the speculation about the accent of the new film, Jethu Joseph said, “If people are expecting a heavy, intelligent game like Part Two, they might be disappointed,” highlighting that the upcoming installment will deviate from the mind structure of ‘Drisham’ films. Instead, ‘Drishyam 3’ is ready to take a different view, which lowers the complex plot and focuses more on the development of its central character.
The director clarified that the third part would serve as a natural expansion of Georgakutty’s visit, rather than trying to repeat the puzzle-driven suspense of previous entries. “I am happy with ‘Drishyam 1’, 2, and ‘Drishyam 3’, a good film is going to be made. I don’t know about the box office thing, but I systematically approached for the development of character, did not consider Mohanlal as an actor, but I considered him as Georgcutti, and whatever changes can happen after four years, I am working where I am working.
Jeetu shared the insight into the demanding process, revealing the challenges of the travel and other projects to balance. “I traveled to Europe in April, so while traveling, I wrote the screenplay, and a flight from Amsterdam, I completed the scene order. After that, I came here, and I had this shoot of ‘Valathu Vathe Kallan’, so every morning I wake up at 3:30, two or three scenes, and how do you complete it.” The script passed through five drafts before reaching its current form.
The response of reliable colleagues and family members played an important role in shaping the screenplay. “After the first half, I met him, I discussed, and then he used to read the second half. So once this process took place, he had some suggestions; there were some issues, so it always happens,” Jethu commented.
The director’s comments echoed their earlier statements in the Manorama News Conclave 2025, where they expressed their desire to move beyond the traditional thriller framework. “Even if it fails, I want to try something new from the thriller,” he said.
Jeethu Joseph is also working on other projects, including the upcoming release of ‘Miraj’, which is starring Asif Ali and Aparna Balmali set for September 19, and recently completed ‘Valathu Vashatu Vashe Kallan’ with ‘Biju Menon and Jozu George.
More updates about the release schedule for Drishyam 3 are expected in the coming weeks.
