Former US President and Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump has attacked Vice President Kamala Harris, questioning her qualifications and calling her an “insurance policy” for incumbent President Joe Biden.
His attack against Kamala Harris, of Indian and African descent, comes amid an ongoing debate in the Democratic Party over whether President Biden should continue to be a candidate in the November 5 presidential election.
Joe Biden, 81, has been called on by some Democrats to drop out of the race after his poor performance during the June 27 debate with Trump, in which he struggled to land any significant blows against his opponent or complete sentences.
“Anything else can be said about Crooked Joe Biden, but you have to give him credit for a brilliant decision, probably the smartest decision he’s ever made. He chose Kamala Harris to be his vice president. No, it was brilliant. Because it was an insurance policy. Probably the best insurance policy I’ve ever seen,” Donald Trump, 78, told supporters in Florida.
He repeatedly mispronounced her name, saying, “If Joe had picked someone more qualified he would have removed her from office years ago, but he can’t because she’s his second choice.”
Trump said Harris was given two very important tasks as vice president – border security and preventing Russia from attacking Ukraine.
“First of all, she was put in charge of US border security. She never came. She never went there. She never went there even once. And this border is the worst border in the history of the world,” he alleged.
“We have the best border in history, because she has the worst border in the history of the world,” Trump said. “Then, she was sent to Europe to stop Russia from invading Ukraine. How did that work? Not very well. Both times, the result was a fatal failure. Since Kamala was made Border Czar, the Biden-Harris administration has lost track of an estimated 150,000 children, many of whom have undoubtedly been raped, trafficked, killed or horribly abused.”
Trump accused Harris, 59, of being a socialist.
He said, “I don’t think Kamala Harris’ California socialism will appeal to people in Doral, Miami or Florida. Because in Florida, we don’t like socialism. We want our freedom, right? We want our freedom.”
“Joe, Kamala and the entire Democrat establishment have been caught red-handed in the greatest scam and the greatest cover-up… It’s a cover-up. It’s the greatest cover-up in political history. As you know, they are all co-conspirators in a sinister plot to deceive the American public about the cognitive abilities of the man sitting in the Oval Office,” Trump alleged.
