Explaining the director’s reasoning, Vijay said, “Aditya was very clear that he didn’t want what people call an item song, something that would take away from the story. If it was just about one girl, it would have taken the focus away from the story. That’s why there are two girls, not one. He didn’t want the focus to be about this one person. If it was Tamanna, it would have been about her, not the story.”
Explaining further, Vijay said, “what was happening in the movieThere was a lot going on, and if you walk away from the story, the song is just a cut-and-dried song.”
