Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak of Panorama Studios revealed that Khanna’s fees were discussed on three occasions but no solution could be reached. He said that the creative aspects of the role, especially the look of the character, were also discussed.
Mangat said, “Akshay Khanna’s remuneration, which is believed to be the reason for his exit from the project, was negotiated thrice. Following this, Akshay reportedly stopped responding to phone calls.” He said that the production house is preparing to issue a legal notice to the actor.
According to the manufacturer, the differences were not limited to financial terms only. Mangat said that disagreements also arose over Khanna’s hairstyle for the role of IG Tarun Ahlawat. Despite efforts by the team to address the concerns, no middle ground could be found, following which the actor reportedly stopped communicating.
In view of the development, Khanna’s 2020 interview Hindustan Times Has emerged again. Reflecting on the struggle of aspiring actors, he had said, “Wanting to become an actor and getting the opportunity are two different things. Millions of people want to become actors.” When asked what often determines the first break, his answer was clear: “Nepotism, it works.”
The makers have officially confirmed the casting of Jaideep Ahlawat and are moving ahead with their plans for the Ajay Devgan-led film, which will release in 2026. While casting changes are not unusual in high-profile projects, Khanna’s departure as well as his previous comments on nepotism have ensured that the spotlight remains on both the actor and the industry at large.
