DJI Neo 2 launches globally with more capable cameras and more advanced navigation

The DJI Neo 2 is now available in most markets around the world after launching in China in late October. One notable exception is the US – all new DJI products exclude the US due to current political and market conditions.

Here are the prices for everyone else – note that in Canada prices are given in USD rather than CAD. We’re not sure if this is a typo or a wink and hint at how US customers can get the Neo 2 (but you probably shouldn’t as there will be no after-market support in the US).

dji neo 2 price
Canada 230 US dollars
UK GBP 210
Europe 240 euros
Japan JPY 38,400
Australia USD 410
new zealand $440

Note that the above prices are for the drone only. The DJI Neo 2 is for beginners or those who want to capture drone footage without all the fuss – you can control it with gestures and/or a smartphone app.

However, it fully supports more advanced control methods – you can get the Fly More Combo for $400/£350/€400, which includes an RC-N3 remote, two extra batteries, and a charging hub for three batteries. There’s also the Motion Fly More combo at $550/£510/€580, which features the DJI Goggles N3 and RC Motion 3 controller for FPV flights.

The DJI Neo 2 has a ton of control options, from gestures to FPV

If you missed the original launch, here’s an overview of the DJI Neo 2. It’s a lightweight drone at 151 grams (160 grams with the DJI Neo 2 digital transceiver), which is a little more than the original Neo’s 135 grams but well below the 250 gram limit.

It flies faster – up to 5 m/s in sports mode, whereas for the old one it was only 2 m/s – and slightly longer (up to 19 minutes vs. 18 minutes). It is more resilient to wind with a Level 5 rating (up to 10.7 m/s) compared to Level 4 (8 m/s). And you get double the internal storage to 49GB.

The DJI Neo 2 features forward LiDAR and an omnidirectional vision system

The far more advanced sensor suite combines an omnidirectional vision system with forward-facing LiDAR, whereas the original Neo only had a downward-facing positioning system. It also enables ActiveTrack (with the new cycling option).

The Neo 2 uses the same 1/2″ sensor as its predecessor but brings a wider f/2.2 lens (versus f/2.6). Even better, the single-axis gimbal was replaced by a more capable 2-axis mechanism (tilt and roll).

Key Features of DJI Neo 2

Video recording was upgraded to 4K 60fps in horizontal mode (up from 4K 30fps) and 2.7K 60fps in vertical mode (up from 1080p 60fps). By default, the drone uses a Wi-Fi video transmission system, but you can equip it with DJI’s O4 system, which adds a few extra grams of weight. Wi-Fi systems have a range of up to 500 meters, O4 systems can go up to 10 km. Note that the transceiver is sold separately but comes with the Fly More combo.
