Disney Hong Kong Jewelery Firm at Mickey Mouse Trademark
Disney has sued Hong Kong’s Red Earth Group, alleging trademark violations that it is to use Mickey Mouse Imagery in its jewelery line. The entertainment legend seeks a court’s prohibition and loss.

Walt Disney Company has filed a case against Hong Kong -based Jewelery Company Red Earth Group for trademark violations.
The case filed in the Los Angeles Federal Court on Wednesday alleged that the company was marketed under the “Mickey 1928 Collection”, the brand Saturday, illegally uses Disney’s prestigious Mickey Mouse image.
Disney claims that the jewelery line, including ring, necklace and earrings, suggests an official affiliation with the entertainment giants.
According to the Associated Press, Disney’s legal team has accused the Mickey Mouse imagery of “trying to confuse consumers”, which means a cooperation or licensing system with Disney.
The promotional material and product description for the collection is designed to appeal directly to Disney fans.
Although the first version of Mickey Mouse from 1928 short steamboat Willy, the first version of Mickey Mouse entered the public domain in the United States last year, due to the end of the copyright deadline, Disney said it still holds a trademark right on the character.
Disney argues that the Red Earth is taking advantage of its public domain status, such as “Saturday Mickey 1928 Classic Ring” to support unauthorized sales of items such as a Russia, a steamboat willy-inspired jewelery, which is a synthetic stone.
According to the Associated Press, in its formal release, Disney re -established her dedication to protect her intellectual property: “Disney is committed to protecting them from unauthorized trademark violations and preventing consumers from confusing from being confused with the unauthorized uses of Mickey Mouse and our other beloved characters.”
