Director Mudassar Aziz defends Pati Patni Aur Woh Do amid criticism of infidelity
Director Mudassar Aziz has rejected criticism that Husband-Wife-and-She trivializes extramarital affairs and promotes infidelity. He said that the sequel focuses on marriage, misunderstandings and a husband who no one cares about.

He said the sequel explored marriage and misunderstandings without portraying the husband as a man with a “wandering eye”.

Aziz said, “Every genre and every creator has to have a personal responsibility and accountability to the story. And I think, unfortunately, we live in a very happy world where we want to immediately say, ‘Oh, this is like this, or that is like this’,” he said.
The film marks Aziz’s return to the comedy-of-errors genre, taking the classic ‘whoa’ trope to another level. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the role of a forest officer whose life turns into chaos as he finds himself entangled with not only his wife, played by Vamika Gabbi, but also characters played by Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh. As misunderstandings increase, the entire town begins to believe that Ayushmann’s character, Prajapati, is a philanthropist.
Talking about the subject of the film, Aziz said, “You are also challenging yourself. This time you want to give something new to the audience. I said to myself, ‘How about we make this subject with a new film.’ extremely devoted wife (extremely devoted to his wife), What is called a civilized man (a very civilized man)?”
He further explained how husband wife and those two Differs from earlier versions of the franchise. He said he wanted to explore the idea of marriage and misunderstandings without portraying the husband as a person with a “wandering eye”. He also reflected on how the theme has evolved across generations, from BR Chopra’s original version to his own 2019 adaptation starring Kartik Aryan.
“It’s not necessarily that the person is wrong, but sometimes there is a communication breakdown between two people, and things can go wrong. So this time I said, ‘Give yourself this luxury, let’s have a husband and wife and one that doesn’t have the husband’s wandering eyes here and there,'” she added.

Earlier, Ayushmann had addressed the criticism regarding the film and said that his intention was not to promote infidelity. He added that the film moves beyond a typical rom-com and leans more towards comedy and situational humor.
He said, “We are not promoting infidelity because it is a family film. Everyone will enjoy watching this film; it is a comedy of errors.”
