Did Shah Rukh Khan have a heated argument with Punjab Kings’ Ness Wadia over the mega IPL auction? Know what happened

Shah Rukh is now in the headlines for the Indian Premier League owners meeting held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Clash between Shahrukh Khan and Ness Wadia over mega auction

According to Cricbuzz, Shah Rukh Khan and other team owners recently attended the IPL meeting at the BCCI headquarters to discuss whether the mega auction should take place or not.

KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan, who was against the auction, reportedly got into a heated argument with Punjab Kings’ Ness Wadia over the number of players.

Shah Rukh Khan was in favour of maximum retention, while Ness was in favour of low retention. Ness is the co-owner of Punjab Kings along with Preity Zinta and others.

Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran supports Shahrukh’s KKR

The report further stated that Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran came out in support of Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders. In a statement with the portal, Kavya shared that building a team and investing in young players is a time-consuming process.

Citing the example of SRH player Abhishek Sharma, the team owner said that it took him three years to “bring consistency” in his performance. He said that there are many players like him in other teams as well.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal has come out in favour of the mega auction, saying he was “surprised” to see the debate on its continuation.

Decision pending with BCCI

The BCCI is yet to take any decision but the cricket administrative body will discuss it with the IPL Governing Council before framing rules for IPL players, the board said in a press release.

The mega auction will decide the number of retentions. The report further states that the BCCI will announce the rules by the end of August.

Shahrukh Khan’s team Kolkata Knight Riders won the Indian Premier League 2024 title by 8 wickets. The final match was played between KKR and SRH on 26 May this year.

Shah Rukh Khan co-owns his team in partnership with Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta.
