Did Jennifer Lopez help Ben Affleck deal with his ‘moody and dark’ side? Sources reveal

Jennifer Lopez reportedly put a lot of effort into making sure Ben Affleck was happy in their relationship and took care of him like a child. A source told PEOPLE that the Atlas actress “spent time making sure Ben was happy and had everything he needed.”

“It was almost childlike in the way she cared for him,” the source said. “Her friends constantly reminded her that she was not responsible for his feelings in the relationship. He was very moody and depressed at times.” In contrast, Lopez has an appreciation for life and is grateful for everything.

After months of separation speculation, the two officially split on August 20 when Lopez filed for divorce from the Batman v Superman actor. Prior to that, they spent the summer apart and missed out on several memorable moments in their relationship. The On the Floor singer spent her summer vacations abroad and in the Hamptons. Meanwhile, Affleck stayed on the West Coast for the most part.

Another source close to Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner told PEOPLE that the actor was never able to handle stress well. “He doesn’t have good coping skills. He gets frustrated easily and becomes moody.” Although he’s great to hang out with when he’s in a good mood, he can easily get upset or frustrated which can affect those around him.

The source claimed, “Many times, it’s just a small thing that he gets hung up on. It’s not fun at all to be around that kind of negativity.” However, another source told the outlet that the Gone Girl actor is “doing well” and is focused on work. He’s also been great with the kids and seems to be doing what he wants.

Affleck was recently spotted grabbing dinner with his Good Will Hunting co-star and longtime friend Matt Damon and his wife Luciana in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 25. The pair’s upcoming project Unstoppable, starring Lopez, is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
