Dhurandhar The Revenge sold 1.25 lakh tickets across the national chains, the second highest ever for Bollywood but…

Dhurandhar: The Revenge sold 125K tickets across two national chains in the first 24 hours of sale. Technically, this isn’t the first 24 hours of sales for the film, as it’s been on sale for previews for the past week, but it was the first 24 hours of opening day sales.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge stands as the second best seller among these series, after Jawan (150K). Notably, the film has sold 290K tickets for previews across these series so far. Of those 290K, surely in 24 hours at least 100K would have booked the film for its opening day, if not 200K or maybe even all of them. We will never know for sure, but it is certain that it would have blown away the young man’s record.

Typically, ticket sales slow down after the first big day of advances. Dhurandhar: The Revenge will also be slowed down, but probably to a lesser extent than the others. The film has already been on sale for a week, so the demand for early ticket bookings that drive first 24-hour sales will be there, meaning the decline will be less, provided the promotion is short.

Looking ahead, its first target is to break Pathan’s record of 545K tickets for its opening day. It appears he is in a good position to take it. Then it has to be seen how high it can go. The overall India record is held by Avengers: Endgame, which sold more than one million tickets across the national chains. At that time, it had four national chains, three of which were PVR and INOX as one. Carnival Cinemas closed after Covid, but many of those cinemas were taken over by the two remaining chains. It’s probably going to be tough because the film will garner a lot of demand from first-day, first-show viewers with previews. Of course, with the inclusion of previews, this would be much easier, in fact, much more likely.

The top ticket sellers in the first 24 hours in national series for Bollywood are as follows:

Post Topic stamp
1 young 150,000
2 Dhurandhar: Revenge 125,000
(+290,000 previews)
3 Pathan 122,000
4 Sultan 100,000

The number of Sultans in the above list is approximate. These four are probably the only Bollywood films to sell more than 100K tickets in the national series. Due to lack of data, another film may be missing from the list before 2022. Advance tracking of national series has only become popular in recent years.
