Just two days ago, Dhurandhar: The Revenge crossed the US$1 million pre-sales mark at the United States box office. As of today, the film is already closing in on US$2 million. As of EOD Sunday, the Ranveer Singh starrer has collected US$1.70 million in advance in the states. Of this, approximately US$650K came from the Wednesday premiere, while another US$275K is for Thursday’s opening day. Weekend sales are even more impressive, with both Friday and Saturday grossing US$300K.
The release of the trailer led to a huge 40 percent increase in sales on Saturday. The same momentum continued on Sunday, with the film adding another US$250K to its total. The pre-sales are already the highest for a Bollywood film, surpassing Jaawan, whose pre-sales were around US$1.50 million. At the current pace, Dhurandhar: The Revenge will make US$2 million on Tuesday, and then there are still eight days to go. A deal worth US$3 million has been signed; The USD 4 million is now well in sight.
The top pre-sales of Indian films in the United States are those of Baahubali: The Conclusion, RRR and Kalki 2898 AD, all three of which were priced at over US$4 million. Dhurandhar: The Revenge will be joining them. It may or may not beat them in terms of money, but it will definitely beat them in terms of ticket sales, that too by a huge margin. Originally, those films had huge premieres, about US$30 for the ATP, then more than US$20 for the rest of the weekend. On the other hand, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is selling at standard rates of around US$14-15. Even at the same earnings as those three, its ticket sales will be 50-75 percent higher, and of course, it could be even higher.
This also makes an extended opening weekend of US$10 million a very strong possibility. Notably, only three Bollywood films have crossed the US$10 million mark during their entire run in the United States, and Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now in a position where it could potentially reach that figure in its opening weekend itself.
