Dhurandhar: The Revenge made Rs. Earned around Rs 71 crore at the Indian box office on Friday. This brings its running total to Rs. Earning of around Rs 185 crore till now. Usually, films that have a good opening are expected to see their earnings slow down a bit the next day. Jawan declined by 28 percent while Pushpa 2 declined by nearly 20 percent. However, the Ranveer Singh starrer’s earnings have declined by only 5 percent, which is an unprecedented hold.
This is because the opening day was poor, with a large portion of the first day’s audience demand being spent on previews on Wednesday. Had it not been for the preview, Thursday’s opening day price would probably have been around Rs. 90 crore net, and it would normally be 20 per cent or thereabouts. The film also got the benefit of today being a national holiday, the benefit of which was seen in the night show on Thursday. The decline in business mainly came from the state of Maharashtra, where the opening day was a holiday. Delhi-NCR saw an increase, rest all remained stable or saw a slight decline.
The first two days saw record business in terms of revenue, while admissions were not at the level the collections showed. This was because it was a mid-week release, a non-holiday release in the Hindi circuit apart from Maharashtra. The record revenue was coming in part due to increased ticket prices, which are about 15 percent more than normal. Today this has changed with the Eid holiday. Now with the holidays approaching and ticket prices rising, this film is going to be way ahead of any we have seen so far.
Saturday’s progress is astonishing, with most Plex chains starting the day with the same collection where they ended on Friday. The film already has Rs. Net profit of over Rs 60 crore for today, which means its target is Rs. 90 crore net plus final. There is also a possibility of the rupee being hit. 100 crore nett, unless capacity issues in bigger centers keep it down. The South-dubbed version of the film is also being released today, so even if the money in Hindi remains low. 100 crore nett, all versions can achieve it.
