Dhurandhar The Revenge box office collection: Ranveer Singh’s film closes to US$35 million overseas after second weekend

Dhurandhar: The Revenge collected approximately US$7 million in its second weekend at the overseas box office. This takes its total overseas earnings to approximately US$34.75 million (Rs 327 crore). Combined with Rs. 918 crores (Rs. 765 crores) from India, taking the total worldwide box office collection to Rs. 1245 crores. With this, it has overtaken the lifetime earnings of its predecessor, Dhurandhar, which earned Rs. 1219 crores.

Today, the film will surpass RRR and become the fourth biggest Indian film of all time after Dangal, Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2. The top two traded off second-phase releases, mainly from China, which pushed them higher. Considering only the original releases, the biggest film is Baahubali 2, which Dhurandhar 2 will be targeting and at the moment, it is in a good position to take on it.

The Ranveer Singh starrer is now the biggest Indian film of all time in Australia and Canada. In the United States, it is the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. In the United Kingdom, it is the second-highest to date and is on track to overtake Pathan in the coming weeks. Germany is a record for Indian cinema, excluding European co-productions like The Lunchbox. There are several other smaller markets where it has seen record or near-record trading.

The film is on track to cross the US$40 million mark and move closer to US$45 million. The highest-grossing Bollywood films overseas other than East Asia are Jaawaan and Pathan, both of which earned approximately US$48 million. Dhurandhar: Revenge is unlikely to catch them at this point, but with some overperformance it might. This is absurd because typically a large portion of the youth and foreign business comes from the Middle East, where Dhurandhar: The Revenge has not been released. If that were the case, the target would potentially be US$60 million or so.

The regional breakdown of the overseas box office of Dhurandhar: The Revenge is as follows:

area Total
United States of America USD 14,475,000
Canada USD 5,975,000
Australia USD 4,475,000

Comment: Canada is traditionally reported as North America along with the United States. The problem with doing this is that Canadian grosses are not converted from CAD to USD, but are taken as is. At Pinkvilla we report both separately and convert Canadian grosses from CAD to USD, which is the correct and fair way of reporting and is also becoming the industry norm recently.

Without conversion, Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s North American box office is US$22.65 million, and accordingly, the total overseas gross is US$36.97 million. This is a traditional but incorrect method of reporting, which some people still adopt.
