Advance bookings for Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge point to a record-breaking opening in the USA premiere for a Hindi film. As of 10 am on March 3, the Ranveer Singh starrer recorded advance earnings of US$67,000 for the premiere day alone. The film has sold approximately 4000 tickets in over 300 showings at 220 locations in the United States. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’s opening day sales, including the premiere, crossed the US$100K mark.
This is a solid start for the progress of Hindi film in the overseas territory. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has not yet been released in Cinemark and almost all AMC theaters. It is expected that after the opening of these two chains, there will be a big jump in the sales of the film. The film still has 16 days left to record solid pre-sales and set a new benchmark for Hindi films.
Apart from the US markets, pre-bookings of Dhurandhar 2 were also opened in other markets including the UK. Including the premiere, the total overseas advance booking of Dhurandhar 2 for the first day is around US$150K, which is Rs. 1.37 crores as per Indian currency.
If the film continues to maintain the same pace going forward, it will register unprecedented progress before the premiere show. The initial rush among the audience is visible in its pre-booking. The trailer is going to be released in a few days, which will further increase its sales. Notably, Dhurandhar is the highest-grossing Bollywood film in the United States with approximately US$13 million. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge will aim to overthrow this and set a new benchmark.
Advance booking of the spy action drama has not started yet in the Indian markets. It is expected to start soon after its trailer comes out. However, no confirmation has been made yet by the team.
For those unaware, Dhurandhar 2 will mark the return of the original star cast which includes Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and others. It will be interesting to see whether Akshay Khanna will return in the flashback parts or not.
