Kangana Ranaut called Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge a picture of the “new India” at the International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026. He highlighted the need to encourage such films on platforms like IFFD.

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut called director Aditya Dhar Dhurandhar: Revenge Speaking at the inauguration of the International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026, he praised the spy thriller for depicting “culture, patriotism and modernity” as a reflection of the “new India”.
Speaking to the media at the film festival, Kangana highlighted the need for platforms that showcase films stalwart. “This is a picture of the new India,” he said, adding that the film reflected “culture, patriotism and modernity – the dream of a developed India”.

“You will see the pulsating energy of the new India in the film”, he said, adding that IFFD is an incentive to showcase such films. “There should be such platforms for this,” the actor said, according to an ANI report.
Kangana further explained how the dream of a developed India has become possible under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We are very grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, who has given us the dream of a developed India. And we all are moving forward with it.”
Legendary actor Dharmendra honored at IFFD 2026
Inaugurated at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the IFFD attracted many leading actors, directors and film industry stalwarts. The highlight of the event were the Lifetime Achievement Awards, which were presented to late actor Dharmendra as well as actors Sharmila Tagore and Nandamuri Balakrishna in honor of their lasting impact on Indian cinema.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurates IFFD 2026
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stressed the cultural ambition behind the festival. “Delhi is the heart of the country, a city that embraces all and carries both history and hope. With this film festival, we are not just hosting an event but creating a new cultural identity for the capital,” he said, according to ANI records.
CM Gupta concluded, “Cinema has the power to inspire, connect and tell stories that become people’s dreams. This festival will be a platform for new artists, filmmakers and especially women to showcase their talent. We are committed to making Delhi a true creative capital, known for its energy, stories and spirit.”
A special tribute was paid at the inauguration ceremony to mark 150 years Vande Mataram. The program officially started with the lighting of the inaugural lamp by CM Gupta. Many celebrities including Kangana Ranaut, Sharmila Tagore and Hema Malini joined her.
Dhurandhar: Revenge Has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in lead roles.
The espionage thriller was released theatrically on March 19, 2026, along with actor Pawan Kalyan’s Telugu action-drama Ustad Bhagat Singh.
