Indian film celebrities congratulated CJP and Sonam Wangchuk on the resignation of former education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Actress Priyanka Chopra has reacted to the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following activist Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day hunger strike and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

Sharing the news of Pradhan’s resignation on her Instagram story, Priyanka reacted with clapping, smiling and heart emojis.

Actress Bhumi Pednekar also supported Pradhan’s resignation on Instagram and wrote, “(sic).” In a late caption he called it “a monumental moment for democracy”.

Actors Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj and Vijay Varma also welcomed the government’s decision to engage with the youth and praised the youth-led protest on social media.

Welcoming the government’s decision, he concluded, “The government’s willingness to engage is welcome. Let us now ensure that negotiations lead to lasting reforms. The road ahead is long, but Indians must walk it together.”

Director Zoya Akhtar praised Gen Z on Instagram, writing, “What a reminder this is… Gen Z – only…- only (sic).” He added a quote that read, “Democracy is a system of government where power belongs to the people.”

Prakash Raj had earlier reacted to Wangchuk ending his 26-day fast and thanked him for his sacrifice. He also questioned why the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is still being delayed.

Actor Vijay Varma, reacting to Pradhan’s resignation on Instagram, shared Pradhan’s picture and wrote, “Accha chalta hoon.. duaon mein yaad rakhna (Okay, I’m taking leave… keep me in your prayers).”

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari extended her support to the youth in her Instagram story and wrote, “Gen Z to win. More power to honesty, dignity, non-violence, accountability, freedom of speech and intelligence. May they always be higher than fear, division and hatred.”

Actor Manav Kaul also praised the youth in his Instagram post and wrote, “I love you…youth…this country is yours…everything is in your hands now. Let’s play…Jai Hind.”

Veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah had also expressed support for the student protests in Delhi.
