Dhanush’s father Kasturi Raja confirmed legal action against good bad ugly manufacturers on unauthorized use of his songs

Months after his release, Dhanush’s father and filmmaker Kasturi Raja confirmed that he is taking legal action against the makers of Good Bad Ugly.

Speaking at an event recently, he criticized the new generation filmmakers to rely on the gloom by using old music tracks in new films-I often without permission from the original creators.

Speaking during the pracharak race for his film Samakudangi in Salem, Kasturi Raja said, “When stalwarts like Ilayaraja and deity made timely music, it seems to trust today’s creators on nostalgia instead of innovation.

Why will Kasturi Raja take legal action on GBU?

For those who come back in April, the team of composer Ilaiyaraja sent a legal notice to the manufacturers of Good Bad Ugly for unauthorized use of their songs “Ilamai Idho Idho,” “N Jodi Manja Kuruvi,” and “Otha Ruva”.

The notice stated that the use of these compositions was replaced, and commercially exploited in Ajit Kumar starrer without obtaining any permission from the original musician.

In addition, Ilaiyaraja’s team demanded compensation of the rupee. With 5 crores from the producers of the film, with a written waiver and immediate removal of songs in question.

Good bad ugly producers counter statement on claims

In response, the film’s producer, Mythri filmmakers released a counter statement in April, dismissing allegations of unauthorized use of songs.

He said, “We have taken permission from all the music labels for the songs we use in the film. Label rights, so we have followed the protocol and took NOC from them. We have done things by the book.”
