Dhanush shared an inspiring story of building his dream house in Poes Garden, Chennai at the audio launch of ‘Raayan’. However, his speech received negative reactions on social media.
Actor Dhanush’s speech at the audio launch of ‘Raayan’ left people divided on the internet. He spoke about the story behind his Poes Garden (a posh area of Chennai where many popular celebrities live) residence in Chennai. His speech sparked a debate about him being an ‘outsider’. Many users on X called him out saying that he is a product of nepotism as his father is director Kasthuri Raja and brother director Selvaraghavan.
Recently, the audio launch of ‘Raayan’ was aired on Sun TV. In this program, he talked about his Poes Garden residence. Superstar Rajinikanth and late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa have properties in this area.
He said, “If I had known that buying a house in Poes Garden would become such a big issue, I would have lived in a small apartment. Should I not buy a house in Poes Garden? If I live on the streets, should I stay there?”
Dhanush narrated an inspiring story from when he was 16 years old – “Me and my friend were driving on Cathedral Road. You all know whose fan I am (pointing towards Rajinikanth). We went to Poes Garden to see Thalaivar’s house. We took directions and went there. Then we saw a crowd at another person’s house. We were told it was Jayalalithaa mother’s house. I got off the bike and saw Thalaivar’s house on one side and Jayalalithaa Amma’s house on the other.”
He further added, “At that time I thought – one day I should buy at least a small house in Poes Garden. I made it happen. Today the house in Poes Garden is a gift to 16-year-old Venkatesh Prabhu (his birth name).”
After the clip went viral on social media, several posts on X pointed out that Dhanush is not an outsider and was not struggling as he claimed.
