Actor Diljit Dosanjh is playing the role of a detective in his upcoming film ‘Detective Sherdil’ for the first time. The trailer of Vodunit set at Budapest was released on June 10, 2025. Diljit played a title role in the mystery-thriller.
The trailer begins with the murder of a billionaire played by Boman Irani in Budapest, Hungary. Diljit enters the crime site with her co-director Natasha played by Diana Penty as Detective Sherdil. He then comes to several family members who are possible suspects in the murder of a business-box.
In addition to the confusing conspiracy about the killer, ‘Detective Sherdil’ also depicts Diljit’s fiery, funny attraction as he calls himself a ‘shara with’ for the West and ‘Biomkesh’ for Indians. Two minutes, the 36-second trailer brings an entertaining game of deception, where every suspect prevents a mystery, and each new revelation flashes the story on his head.
The film’s director, Ravi Chhabari, reflected on a mixture of mystery with dark humor. He said in a statement, “The trailer of ‘Detective Sherdil’ is just the beginning. There is a lot of madness!
Praising Diljit and his acting skills, he further said, “From the first day, I knew that we needed a detective that could balance the attraction, intelligence, and a little swagger, and Diljit brought more than that. The way he found the character for life, and gave it a new energy that made our vision more real.”
Expressing his excitement about playing the role of a detective, Diljit said, “It has been fun for me to play detective Sherdil. The character quirks and this attitude is something that I have tried differently. Hope audiences enjoy this character and film.”

Diana shared information about working on a mystery-thriller and said, “Natasha is one of the most grounded characters I have played-that is sharp and lives with logic, structure and accuracy. Therefore, it was very fun to find out in the chaos of the matter. I loved the detective Sherdil ‘.
“Working with Ravi Chhabari was special – he was clear, ally, and gives the actors a really place for his characters. And to do so with such a stellar artists, to do so on stage like Zee5 which is about bold, diverse story, only cherry at the top,” he said.
