ICC issues guidelines for return to play after pregnancy

According to the ICC, the policy includes recommendations on medical and psychological care, individual recovery planning, phased return-training programmes, child care assistance and facilities for mothers traveling with infants. Its aim is to ensure that motherhood does not become a hindrance in pursuing an international sporting career.

“The continued growth of women’s cricket must be based on opportunity, inclusion and care for our players at every stage of their lives and careers. No player should have to choose between motherhood and representing their country at the highest level,” ICC Chairman Jay Shah said in a statement.

She added, “The ICC Guidelines for Return to Play Following Pregnancy are an important step towards creating a more supportive and informative environment across the game. By providing practical guidance to Members, we want to ensure that women cricketers are supported during pregnancy and empowered to return to cricket with confidence.”
