Dhurandhar has more or less exhausted its earnings at the box office. Ranveer Singh starrer this film made Rs. Has collected. It grossed approximately Rs 786.50 crore in India and USD 30.10 million (Rs 271 crore) from overseas markets. This brought its total worldwide box office earnings to Rs. Approximately 1215 crores. It will probably add one or two crore more to its tally. Dhurandhar is the highest-grossing Bollywood/Hindi film of all time, excluding China.
On the recovery front, the film collected around Rs. 585 crores, making it one of the highest recoveries ever for a Bollywood film. Only Jawan and Pathan are ahead, having recovered more from non-theatrical rights and overseas stake. The film made around Rs. Will earn Rs. 300 crore profit, one of the highest ever profits in the history of the industry.
Dhurandhar, was originally a very expensive single film, costing around Rs. 400 million. Just a few days/weeks before the release, the decision was taken to split the film into two parts and what a decision it turned out to be. The intention was to extract incremental value from non-theatrical streams while allowing the theatrical to be monetized twice. Still, the film was a very risky proposition, and the best that it could do was hope that it would break even and perhaps turn a few profits. While the cost is the highest ever for a Bollywood film, the non-theatrical revenues are relatively very low compared to the biggest films, which also reflects the status of the film before its release.
In terms of theatrical revenue also, the film has earned around Rs 2 crore. 950 crore in India, distributor share just Rs. 335 crores. This is because a large portion of the turnover came after the first two weeks, when stock conditions decline rapidly. Under normal circumstances, a film would cost Rs. The distributor is expected to get a net share of Rs 788 crore. 390-400 crores.
That’s all about to change for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which is getting record deals for non-theatrical rights, whether by selling it to an outside entity or through in-house valuation. It will be much more front-heavy in the dramatic phase, which will mean higher stakes. The recovery of the sequel should go on to beat Jawan and set a new record for the industry.
