Oscar winning actor Jean Hackman and his wife, Betsi Arkawa, were found dead in his house in Santa FE, New Mexico. Officials are investigating the case, but no cause of death has been confirmed. Here we know till now.
The police found the bodies of Jean Hackman and his wife, classical pianoist Bitsi Arkawa on February 26 at their home on the Old Sunset Trail at Hyde Park, Santa FE, according to the BBC. A maintenance worker, who did not see or heard from the couple in two weeks, discovered the bodies and called the emergency services.
According to Sheriff Aden Mendoza, the couple had died for a long time. The hackman was found in a side room near the kitchen, while Arkawa was discovered in a bathroom. A German Shepherd dog belonging to the couple was also found dead inside a bathroom cell near Arkawa.
Officials have not determined the cause of death. No signs of injury were found, but deaths were considered sufficient suspects for investigation. A detective said that Arkawa’s body showed decomposition and mammification in his hands and feet. Hackman had similar signs in his body.
A leaflet bottle and scattered bullets were found near Arkawa’s body. A portable heater was also lying close to her head, questioning whether she fell when she fell.
However, there was no indication of carbon monoxide toxicity or gas leaks by the fire department or utility company. Poisoning tests have been ordered to be poisoned.
Sheriff Mendoza confirmed that investigators were looking into every possible explanation. The maintenance worker found that the bodies said that the front door was open, but there were no signs of forced entry or struggle. “There was no indication of anything disappearing or getting upset from the house,” Mendoza said.
Two other dogs were found alive, one indoors and the other outside. Maintenance workers said that they rarely saw hackman and Arkawa in the individual, as they mainly communicated with Arkawa through phone and text.
