Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are a match made in heaven! The couple met on Broadway in 2009, but only started dating after meeting again on the Dancing with the Stars show in 2012. Three years later, the Ukrainian dancer asked Murgatroyd to marry him while performing on stage in December 2015, and they married each other in 2017.
On July 8, 2024, the couple celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary with loving Instagram tributes to each other amid expecting their third child. Chmerkovskiy shared a photo from their 2017 wedding ceremony with a heartfelt caption that read, “7 years of marriage! Here’s to another 70 years with you, my love! The hottest bride I’ve ever seen and definitely the best party I’ve ever been a part of!”

The two got married in July 2017, with a small ceremony at City Hall and a celebration in front of 300 guests in New York that same month. Speaking to PEOPLE before, they said they wanted their wedding to be in a castle and had dreamed of it from the start.
Chmerkovskiy recalled the moment when their two worlds merged, “I was thinking, how are these two people in the same room? So I think that was the moment of, wow, what a celebration this is. And oh, it’s our celebration. It was crazy. It was amazing.”
Peta Murgatroyd, on the other hand, treasured the moment after they were declared husband and wife, saying, “I was trying not to trip on my dress. When they said, ‘You are now husband and wife,’ it was like, ‘Wow, wow! I’m married.’ Yeah, it was a nice moment.”

The couple, who welcomed their first child, son Shai, in January 2017 ahead of their wedding, have been pretty open about their struggles with infertility and the challenges of raising a family.
According to US Weekly, in June 2022, Murgatroyd revealed that she suffered three miscarriages while trying to expand her family. She later welcomed her son Rio via IVF in June 2023 and announced seven months later that Murgatroyd was expecting her third child.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy participated as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars for fifteen seasons. He was often referred to as the “bad boy of the ballroom.”
