Dalip Tahil’s birthday: When the Baazigar actor recalled how Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Mohit’ fan asked why he killed him in the film

The romantic thriller Baazigar is one of the most popular Bollywood films. Dalip Tahil received much appreciation for his role as the antagonist. Today, on the special occasion of the actor’s birthday on October 30, 2024, let’s remember the moment when he revealed that a ‘Mohit’ fan of Shah Rukh Khan once asked why he defeated him in the film.

In an old episode of the podcast Untriggered with Aminjaaz, Dalip Tahil talked about playing negative roles. Regarding audiences disliking such a character, Tahil said it was a ‘compliment’ because it meant he did his job so well that they started hating him.

After this he shared an interesting anecdote when he met a fan of Shahrukh Khan. Tahil recalled that it happened at London’s Heathrow Airport when he was about to go to the boarding area. The actor revealed that a girl came to him and asked, ‘Why did you beat Shahrukh Khan so much?’

“She was clearly and completely infatuated and in love with Shahrukh,” Tahil said. She shared that she also felt ‘terrible’ after the way he said it to her. Tahil revealed that he had told them that Shahrukh had also hit him in the film. He recalled her response, which was, ‘It doesn’t matter. You are a bad man. He is going to kill you. But why did you do this to him?’

Dalip Tahil mentioned that such things have a huge impact on people, especially those who are ‘vulnerable’.

Baazigar was released in 1993. In the film, Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of Ajay Sharma, an anti-hero who seeks revenge against a businessman Madan Chopra, played by Dalip Tahil. Ajay fooled Chopra’s daughters to destroy his family.

The cast also includes Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, Rakhee and Johnny Lever. The film marks the first collaboration between Shah Rukh and Kajol, who became one of the most loved reel couples in Bollywood. Baazigar was highly praised for its story, mystery, music and acting performances. It was also a huge success at the box office.

Pinkvilla wishes Dalip Tahil a very happy birthday!
