Dhanush is preparing for the release of his next film Kaara, and is also starting work on his upcoming projects. Now, it appears that Lubbar Pandu director Tamizharsan Pachamuthu will direct the actor’s next, which is tentatively titled D56.

In a recent social media post, Tamizharsan Pachamuthu shared a picture of himself while location hunting for his next film. Dhanush is going to star in the upcoming project, the actor also reacted to the post.
Sharing the picture, the filmmaker wrote, “Kelambiyachu,” which means “it’s going on.” In the caption he has also mentioned the film as D56.

Earlier there were rumors that Dhanush will soon work with Tamizharsan Pachamuthu. Now it seems that after D55, the actor’s next film could be this project.
However, in a recent update, director Mari Selvaraj announced that he will be directing a film starring Dhanush in the lead, which will be their second collaboration after Karnan. While the project was initially referred to as D56, it is expected to be a political historical drama, with the director mentioning that shooting will begin in September 2026.
However, official clarification regarding Dhanush’s upcoming projects is yet to come.

Dhanush will also be seen in the lead role in Kara. Directed by Vignesh Raja, known for Por Thozil, the film is the story of a man who must save his family from the consequences of his actions.
The emotionally driven thriller will have Mamita Baiju as the co-lead, along with Karunas, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Jayaram in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release on April 30, 2026.
Additionally, Dhanush has announced that he will star in the tentatively titled D55 directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. The project will be financed by Dhanush himself and will star Mammootty, Sreeleela and Sai Pallavi in important roles. Although not many details about the project have been revealed yet, the film is expected to be a spy action thriller.
